Ingredients:

5 lbs. Potatoes, cubed (optional) or use canned potatoes

2 lbs. Beef sirloin (cut into stew size)

1 lbs. Lean ground beef

1 large onion, diced

1 27 oz can whole green chiles, sliced (reserve juice)

2 28 oz cans diced or crushed tomatoes (quarter whole tomatoes)

1 T. garlic powder

1 T. onion powder

1 ½ t. black pepper

1 ½ t. salt

Procedure:

Brown meats then add all ingredients except for potatoes.  Bring to boil, reduce heat and cook 2 or 3 hours until meat is tender.  Return to a boil, add potatoes, reduce heat simmer and cook 20 30 mins or until potatoes are tender.  More salt maybe added to taste.

If using ONLY ground beef increase ground beef to 3 lbs.  Brown meat then add all ingredients except for potatoes.  Bring to boil, add potatoes, reduce heat simmer and cook 20 30 mins or until potatoes are tender.  More salt maybe added to taste.

Serve with warm flour tortillas.
